Park Chow was the second Chow location - opened in 1998. It featured three different levels, including a rooftop level with a ceiling that could be opened up. It also had an outdoor patio in the front and sidewalk tables.
About Chow
Chow was a longtime San Francisco neighborhood restaurant founded by chef-owner Tony Gulisano, beginning with the original Church Street location in 1997. Over the years, the Chow brand grew to additional locations in Danville, Lafayette, Oakland, and San Ramon. Some locations featured small attached grocery markets that sold prepared foods and select menu items. The network of Chow locations gradually contracted in the late 2010s as leases and operating costs shifted. Its final outpost, a short-lived San Ramon location, closed in 2023.
The Chow location that I went to the most was Park Chow at 1240 9th Ave. This was our regular Friday evening place for several years. My family was crushed when it closed in 2018.
