Chow Lafayette had a long (2003-2019) run, eventually closing in 2019. The good news for fans of Chow is the restaurant that took over the space - Tutu's - is basically a Chow restaurant running under a different name. It's almost the same menu and they still have the market attached to the restaurant.
About Chow
Chow was a longtime San Francisco neighborhood restaurant founded by chef-owner Tony Gulisano, beginning with the original Church Street location in 1997. Over the years, the Chow brand grew to additional locations in Danville, Lafayette, Oakland, and San Ramon. Some locations featured small attached grocery markets that sold prepared foods and select menu items. The network of Chow locations gradually contracted in the late 2010s as leases and operating costs shifted. Its final outpost, a short-lived San Ramon location, closed in 2023.
